as for the reimage program, you'd need to contact HP about that program and see if you qualify for a discounted rate or if it is free with your machine. If you do NOT, have the key, then it is *possible* that you dont need it: Simply because most HP machines are coded to recognize the HP product they are being used on, (if you are running windows 8, then you no longer need a key, your system boards serial number activates it online). Now, If you have your key, and your discs, you should be able to restore at anytime. If someone copies your key to activate another windows, then MS will void the key and shut off authenticity to both machines, meaning your computer will be treated like a pirated system until you can call MS and validate it. Also, your HP should have a key sticker posted on its side somewhere. If you have your discs for your HP they should have the key on them already. Fortunately, sometimes we can figure out a way to get around unnecessary expenses. I know things are tough, and having a flaky computer only adds to the stress.
